Baseball and softball hit the attempting to defend their home field against two contending District 9-5A teams.

On the softball field, the team couldn’t keep up with the Lone Star Rangers on Friday as they fell 15-3, adding another loss on to their 2-12 record.

“We had some people in new positions because of injuries,” sophomore Rachel Wilson said. “But on defense we really did well making the plays we needed to make every time. On offense, we got some good hits but overall we just need more hits as a team which will eventually lead to more runs. In practice we will really be focusing on making good contact with the ball on each at bat.”

Meanwhile, the baseball team was looking for redemption on Friday after losing to Wakeland Wolverines 1-0 on Tuesday. However, once again, the offense couldn’t put any runs on the scoreboard, falling 5-0.

“I think offensively we struggled to execute when we had runners on,” senior Blake Halpern said. “Defensively I felt like we played pretty well. And I think what we took away from that game is we have to execute offensively if we want a chance to win.”

Due to weather conditions on Saturday, baseball’s District 9-5A game against the Frisco Raccoons has been rescheduled to Monday at 4:30 p.m at home.
