Final votes cast for Student Council election
April 12, 2019
After two days of voting, freshmen, sophomores, and juniors on campus have selected junior Emma Hancock to be the Student Body President for the 2019-2020 school year.
“It’s an honor to have reached this point and be able to lead in Student Council next year,” Hancock said. “I’m really excited to use my role for the betterment of the school, and I hope to be able to inspire a new spirit and excitement within the student body.”
As runner-up in the election, Rileigh Horcher will serve as the Vice President for next school year.
“I am honored and excited to be given the opportunity to serve in a leadership position next year,” Horcher said. “I look forward to working with our campus to make everyone feel welcome and part of the Liberty family. I know that Emma and I will work well together as we lead Liberty into 2020. I want to thank everyone who’s supported me and I can’t wait to create new relationships and memories next year.”
Close to 700 students voted in the election, almost one-third of the eligible student body.
“I think we have two of the most qualified people [on the ballot],” Student Council sponsor Kandy Stevens said. “When the results come out today it’s going to speak volumes. We had great turnout and lots of people voted, and I think it is going to be reflective of how our Council is going to be next year.”
