Featured Athlete: Owen Archer

Varsity baseball player sophomore Owen Archer began playing the sport after seeing his brother play. Besides being a part of the team, Archer enjoys the personal growth that can come from partaking in the sport.

Wingspan: What inspired you to start baseball?

Archer: “My brother started baseball and I saw how much fun he was having and wanted to start.”

Wingspan: What keeps you motivated to stay in the sport?

Archer: “I love the game of baseball and that motivates me to keep playing.”

Wingspan: What is the most difficult thing about baseball?

Archer: “I think the hardest thing is not getting down on yourself when you fail.”

Wingspan: What is the biggest benefit of being in the sport?

Archer: “I think the biggest benefit is being able to compete with your team and learn from your mistakes and grow as a person.”

Wingspan: What’s it’s like being on the team?

Archer: “Being on the team is great.”

Wingspan: What pumps you up/motivates you before a game?

Archer: “I usually just hit a little bit and get focused on what I can do to play my best.”

Wingspan: What is your pregame ritual?

Archer: “Every game I go to Racetrac and get a bag of skittles.”
