Wingspan: What inspired you to start pole vaulting?
Masucci: “I did gymnastics for 11 years and I knew a lot of gymnasts who started pole vaulting after they quit so I started sophomore year.”
Wingspan: What keeps you motivated to stay in pole vaulting?
Masucci: “The fact that you can always improve and be able to run faster or jump higher as long as you keep practicing.”
Wingspan: What is the hardest part of pole vaulting?
Masucci: “For pole vaulting the hardest thing is keeping a good mentality each week and staying focused on the goals that I want to achieve.”
Wingspan: What is the biggest benefit of the sport? ?
Masucci: “That I get to meet new people and spend time with my friends while doing something that I love to do.”
Wingspan: what’s it like being on the team?
Masucci: “Track is very individualized but we are still one big team who supports each other and that’s what makes track fun.”
Wingspan: What pumps you up or motivates you before competitions?
Masucci: “I get motivated by knowing that I have the chance to compete against the best and hopefully get a PR.”
Wingspan: What is your pre-game ritual?
Masucci: “I don’t really have a specific ritual but I usually just listen to music and get warmed up.”
