Seniors gathered in the library early Thursday morning before boarding busses heading to Six Flags. Seniors not in attendance had to attend school as normal or take an absence.

The class of 2019 is taking over Six Flags Over Texas on Thursday for Senior Skip Day.

“I am excited for senior skip day,” senior Sophia Garofalo said. “We are going to Six Flags and that is somewhere I have never been before.”

The theme park will be open to both the public and the seniors from the district. Those who skip school to attend the event will have an excused absence, while seniors who skipped, but did not go to Six Flags with the school, will receive an unexcused absence.

That didn’t stop some seniors such as Jessica Gordon from making other plans.

“I had actually planned on going to Senior Skip Day, but me and my parents were also trying to figure out when we should do my senior trip,” Gordon said. “So a few weeks ago we totally randomly booked flights to California and planned a few things for my senior trip! So instead of going to senior skip day, I still skipped but I went to California instead.”
