Rain isn’t dampening the spirits of the Redhawk football team as they open the 2019 season Friday night at 7:00 p.m. against North Garland at Memorial Stadium.

With new head coach Matt Swinnea leading the Redhawks, players are confident of a return to winning ways.

“I think that with [Coach Swinnea’s] new tactics, we will have a better season than years past and one of the best in a while,” offensive lineman Corbin Ridlehuber said. “We have been practicing extremely hard, going through practices like it’s a game. They will make us ready to go through anything on Friday nights”.

Defensive lineman Prince Ugoh believes the Redhawks will start the season off 1-0.

“[North Garland] has talent and their coaches know what they’re doing,” Ugoh said. “They are a team we can beat.”
