Competing in the 5A State Championships, three individuals headed down to Round Rock Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. Senior Amelia Jauregui finished in 37th, freshman Grace DeShetler finished in 64th, and sophomore Jada Williams placed 123rd.

Three individuals from girls’ cross country represented the Redhawks at the UIL 5A State Championships on Saturday in Round Rock.

Senior Amelia Jauregui finished in 37th, freshman Grace DeShetler finished in 64th, and sophomore Jada Williams placed 123rd.

“The energy was very exciting and competitive,” sophomore Jada Williams said. “I felt okay after I finished but I didn’t run a time I wanted because I sprained my ankle. I still had fun and I have two more years of cross country.”

For senior Amelia Jauregui her fourth state championships closed out her high school cross country career.

“It was definitely surreal,” Jauregui said. “After four years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication, all ended when I crossed that line. I am so proud of all the work I’ve accomplished, and I can’t wait to see where I’ll end up next year, hopefully continuing my athletic career.”
