After rain and the threat of severe weather washed out the start of District 9-5A soccer for the Redhawks on Friday, both the girls’ and boys’ teams are ready to kick their district season off Monday against the Memorial Warriors.

The action begins with the girls’ team travelling to Memorial at 7 p.m.

“We are expecting them to come out strong and fast,” junior Kallin Brown said. “We’ve been practicing hard and we’ve played in a tournament and a few scrimmages that have allowed us to see how well we work with each other and what works best with the team.”

Starting 30 minutes later at 7:30 p.m., the boys host the Warriors in their effort to start their district season with a win, and set the tone for the rest of 2020 play.

“I think with districts staring we just have to focus on keeping everyone healthy and mentally ready in order to come off with a win,” senior Aria Naghian said. “Although we had lost to Memorial last year with our old JV coach being the new head coach over there, I think that our team this year is a far better team and we have to potential to beat them.”
