Simply Shreya: Blue Angels
The Blue Angels honored those on the frontlines by flying over North Texas with their flight demonstration Wednesday.
They flew past our houses this morning and though we were all only able to see it for a split second, I think the message spoke volumes to many.
Covering 21 hospitals on their route, their routine was a tribute to the people risking their lives for others. Even while there was such a sight to see, the Blue Angels made sure to mention that everybody should still be following social distancing rules. I’m glad they acknowledged the fact that people still need to stay safe despite coming together to enjoy a show.
This event was also an excuse for many to get out of the house, this being their first time in weeks. At least it was for me. Though the farthest I travelled was 2 feet outside my front doorstep, it felt good to have a breath of fresh air.
But I think the most impactful aspect of it all was to let those still going to work and saving lives know that their service is appreciated.
Sometimes, the smallest things can mean a whole lot to one person. Just realizing that there are people rooting for you and supporting you could change a person’s entire point of view.
The fact that one small action nearly brought tears to the healthcare workers in Dallas is extraordinary. Sort of a reminder that no matter what, we’re all in this together.
And it’s true, we are all in this together. So, thank you to the Blue Angels for bringing some light into this dark time today. For bringing many, hope.
