District 9-5A play continued for the soccer program on Friday with the boys’ team hosting

the Independence Knights.

Starting the season with a 2-0 win over Memorial, goals were a bit harder to come by against the Knights as the teams finished in a 1-1 draw.

“We worked hard and each played our role,” senior Luke Enlow said. “In practice this week we want to work on ball movement and communication.”

After a short drive down the street, the girls’ team also took on the Knights Friday with the Redhawk in search of their first district win.

It was an active first half with three goals scored in the first half, but the Redhawks were on the wrong end of the score as the Knights won 2-1.

“As a team we played really well,” senior Avery Jennings said. “We held onto the ball for like 90 percent of the game. The first goal was a good shot, and there was nothing we could do about a bad call for a PK [penalty kick].”
