At the start of Tuesday’s girls’ soccer game at Lebanon Trail, the Redhawks and Trail Blazers were both 0-2 in District 9-5A. However, at the end of the night it was only the Trail Blazers that remained winless,as the Redhawks took home their first district win 4-2.

Scoring three of the team’s four goals, junior Kennedy Clountz, loves the feeling that comes with her helping the team get a win with her trio of goals.

”Getting a hat trick was amazing,” Clountz said. “The atmosphere with it, and not just getting a hat trick, but scoring a goal in general. Also being around my teammates cheering me on is an amazing feeling. I couldn’t do it without my team’s help on and off the field. My mindset while scoring was just being upset from losing the games before and how competitive I am made me want to score even more. I knew if I took a lot of shots a few would go in.”

Meanwhile back at The Nest, the boys’ team also took on the Trail Blazers with both teams also starting with identical records of 1-0-1. After 80 minutes of play, the teams finished with identical records of 1-0-2 as the teams finished in a 2-2 draw.

“The guys played hard and dominated a good bit of the game,” head coach Fred Kaiser said. ”Excellent work rate and kept their composure well. Would have preferred to get the win of course, but Lebanon Trail is a solid team with great players and they gave a great effort.
