Selena Gomez is arguably one of the most influential people in my life. She has been on my radar since she was a teenager. I watched her grow up on television from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody to Wizards of Waverly Place. Both in her acting and singing career, Selena has excelled. I remember when she started her singing career I was so excited.

When “A Year Without Rain” came out I was ecstatic, but then she dropped the Spanish version of that song and I went crazy. I loved hearing her sing in Spanish and since that moment I have waited for her to do it again. It was a long wait but it was worth it. Selena dropped her new EP all in Spanish called Revelacion.

I was admittedly a little skeptical because I didn’t think her Spanish was going to be that good, and while you can hear her American accent a bit here and there throughout the EP, she really did very well.

My favorite songs from this EP are “Baila Conmigo” featuring Rauw Alejandro, “De Una Vez,” and “Buscando Amor.” “Baila Conmigo” is a really good song in terms of production. I enjoyed it because you can tell that Selena really went out of her comfort zone to make this one.

“De Una Vez” is such a beautiful song. When I first heard it I was immensely proud of Selena. As a Latina, having someone as significant and influential as Selena come out with a single in Spanish after years of only singing in English was really impactful. It’s also a really beautiful song with an important message about independence and self-empowerment.

“Buscando Amor” is a really awesome song because at first, you think it’s going to be about someone looking for love, which is what the title translates to, but it’s really about someone who isn’t looking for it and is living their life without feeling tied down by a relationship.

I couldn’t be prouder of Selena honestly. This EP is such a huge deal for me and for many people like me who have waited and hoped for a project like this from her. The music on this EP is beautiful, proud, empowering, and so many other great things. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
