One of the perks of using Spotify is that they suggest music for you that they think you will like. Spotify created a list of local artists for me to listen to and so I thought I would share some of them with you all.

Up first is Blu!. I couldn’t find much information about her other than what is on her bio. She is an independent artist from San Antonio. She only has two songs out right now, “Grow” and “Gemini.” Both songs are a nice blend of alternative and pop genres. She has a really beautiful voice too. I hope that Blu! releases new music soon.

Another artist I found was Hotboy Wes. Wes has just been signed to Gucci Mane’s label but he has been making music for almost 20 years now. From Waco, Wes is bringing the world of hip hop to home. Some of the songs I really enjoyed were “Free Smoke” featuring Big Scarr, “My Lil Dance” featuring Gucci Mane, and “Gotta Have it.”

Next up is Le$. His music is giving me J. Cole vibes. It’s a very nice mix of R&B with hip hop. One of the songs I am enjoying is “In the Whataburger Drive Thru.” It has a very Texan title too. I thought this song was very down to earth and the lyrics were pretty school and thought provoking. Another song I thought was pretty cool was “Flippin.”

Last but not least is Swanny Ivy from San Antonio. He has a really nice voice that makes for a nice delivery of his songs. They are another cool mix of r&b and hip hop. My favorites are “Poison Ivy,” “Aaron Rodgers,” and “Electra” featuring Kamiyada+. “Electra” kind of reminded me of “Smooth” by Santana. It had a similar vibe.

I hope that these artists get more recognition in the future because they are examples of talent that is taken for granted. I highly recommend people check their music and stories out.
