The Readhawk swim team has only a few meets left until they compete in districts in January. For the athletes, the next stop down the road to districts will be a meet against Frisco and Bishop Lynch High Schools taking place Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Bruce Eubanks Natatorium.

Head coach Nicolas Dion sees this meet as an opportunity to work on perfecting little mistakes to prepare the team for what is ahead.

Our goals for this meet are to get back in the water and compete,” Dion said. “ For some of our swimmers, it’s been a little while since they’ve swam against competition. We have got three meets over the next 2 weeks. A lot of little things we are looking to clean up, so that we put our best foot forward as we move into district competitions starting in January.”

After breaking two school records at her last meet, junior Maria Oushalkas is confident in her abilities and hopes to bring the same energy and results to this next meet.

“Going into this meet I feel really solidly fast,” Oushalkas said. “I think my turns are gonna be the fastest part of my races. I’m only swimming relays, so I expect to at least help carry my team to win, or at least win my leg of the race.”
