Boys’ golf took a swing at their district competition on Thursday and Monday at the Irving Golf Club. The athletes were broken into two teams with the Red Team taking 4th place and Black Team taking 15th.
“My goals for the tournament were to just play the best golf I could and to have fun,” junior Scott McCord said.
One athlete, senior Mitchell Kalka, finished in the top three, walking away with a score of 141 which guaranteed him 2nd place.
For Kalka, and fellow seniors Thaxton Nelson, Blake Spencer, and Bryson Swallow, this tournament was more than just an end to a normal season. The tournament was an end to a high school golf career.
Finishing in 22nd out of 84 competitors, Swallow is proud of the past four years with Redhawk golf.
“I feel pretty good actually,” Swallow said. “I left it all on the course. I gave it everything I had. It may have not been enough but that was ok and I’m grateful for the opportunity I had to play for the school and be In these tournaments.”
