dvsn came out with a self-reflective album on Oct. 28, and it’s an album with just as many lows as it has highs.

The production sounds mostly electronically produced, which contributes to the R&B vibe it strives for. It has a very strong start, and dvsn strategically places songs worth listening to at the top of the tracklist. Songs that deserve the most recognition are: “If I Get Caught”  which displays an enchanting use of background vocals, the high tempo “Bring It,” and “Don’t Take Your Love” which has a little bit of Silk Sonic vibes to it.

However, at approximately the halfway point, I found myself wanting to skip a lot of the songs—there was no “wow” factor to the latter half. It’s not boring to say the least, but it’s easily forgettable.

dvsn has amazing vocals, and it’s a shame that the production didn’t live up to his potential.

I’d give this album a 6.2/10 for the strong start but poor finish.
