The girls’ basketball team hosts the Independence Knights at The Nest on Friday at 6:30 p.m. for a District 10-5A matchup.

“Because of our bye date on Tuesday, a big part of our focus the first days back from winter break is making sure since we did have a lay off, even though we played over break, that we are getting back into shape,” head coach Ross Reedy said. “Working situational play, things that we might see throughout the second half of district and then into playoffs and just really kind of polishing up some of our principals.”

Freshman Lilian Johnson feels that their games over winter break prepared them for their matchup on Friday.

“Since we have been meeting for practice the past two weeks, it hasn’t really felt like a break,” Johnson said. “For the game on Friday, we hope to use this game as preparation for our more challenging games like Memorial, the team to beat. For this game we are expecting to come out with a win against independence.”
