A proposal by Dallas-based hotel business Sam Moon Group, just recently approved by the Frisco City Council, will add a Hyatt Regency hotel in the city’s most populous mall, Stonebriar Centre.

The hotel, a planned 15-story building and parking garage, is proposed to be built in between Stonebriar’s Nordstrom and Dillard’s stores. It would have nearly 300 rooms and a city-owned conference center and public library.

“This is a well-thought-out plan that is a huge amenity and addition to the mall,” Frisco Mayor Maher Maso said in a Dallas Morning News article. “It keeps the mall area very vibrant.”

Frisco City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to purchase the hotel’s conference center for $10.5 million. The conference center will be owned by the city of Frisco, but managed by Hyatt Regency. The city is also paying $15 million to fund for parking spaces.
