Closing out a weekend tournament, softball walks away with mixed results. After a season previous season with one win, the team feels they are starting off strong.

The softball team saw mostly positive results in their tournament over the weekend, finishing with a record of 2-1-1. They lost to Randall 7-3 and beat Berkner 15-0 on the first day, going on to tie with North Mesquite 7-7 and triumph over Kaufman 4-2 during day two.

“We hit the ball really well this weekend, saw some really good things at the plate and we did a lot better at our situational hitting, not leaving runners on base, etc.,” head coach Baylea Higgs said. “Defensively we are still working to get better everyday and eliminate some of the unforced errors but we look better overall.”

Sophomore Delila Bond has a similar mindset.

“I was hitting the ball very well and got a lot of base hits that helped my team score,” Bond said. “Overall I am very happy about our results from over the weekend I think we did a very good job as a team and have improved a lot since the beginning of the year.”
