The girls’ soccer team retreated back to The Nest on Friday after a loss in the first round of playoffs to Frisco High School. “The girls played really well we executed our game plan really well, just didn’t come out for us, and sometimes that happens,” head coach Kyle Beggs said.

The girls’ soccer season is over after they lost to Frisco High School 2-1 in the first round of playoffs Thursday night.

“It’s definitely upsetting because, obviously, you want your season to go as long as possible,” sophomore Bella Maraquin said. “But I’m just proud of what we did accomplish and how hard we worked to even qualify for playoffs.

Playing the top seed from District 9-5A, combined with  high winds played a factor in the girls’ loss, according to  girls’ head coach Kyle Beggs.

“Honestly, I don’t think anything went wrong it was a tough game because they’re a tough opponent,” Beggs said. “There was a really high wind that night, 20-30 miles per hour, and I think that just kinda played a little bit of a factor. The girls played really well we executed our game plan really well, just didn’t come out for us, and sometimes that happens.”

Even though the team hoped to advance, Beggs is proud of the team for making it this far.

“I thought it was very good because we have not been to the playoffs in about five years,” Beggs said. “It was something that this group of players could build towards over the past few years. And a legacy they can now leave behind for the next group to fulfill and take that standard and run with it.”
