With the start of the new academic year, students have the opportunity to bring change, innovation, and growth to the community through various leadership opportunities.
“We have a standard set that we have had for years,” counselor Ryan Kiefer said. “As we find opportunities for our students in the community, we just keep adding them to the list.”
Applying for leadership positions is something sophomore Amaris George thinks may be beneficial.
“I think it’s important for students to learn responsibility and leadership skills,” George said. “They’re both necessary to be future-ready.”
If selected for a leadership opportunity, sophomore Neha Ramachandran is looking forward to making a difference in education.
“I’m really excited about having a direct say in the issues that impact our students,” Ramachandran said. “I can’t wait to share our thoughts and ideas with the Superintendent and the Board to make a real impact on our education.
Kiefer advises students to remain true to themselves during the application process.
“Candidates could make a lasting impression during their application by showing some enthusiasm if they can learn something about the organization before you get in there so that you show that you care,” Kiefer said. “If you can just be your authentic self and show some enthusiasm and rely on that drive and resiliency. It is always hard to say what one person or one organization is looking for, so I think just be true to yourself, and the right people will find you.”
