As their season comes to an end the Redhawks will participate in the district tournament Thursday. “Maintaining a clear and focused mind is always challenging,” sophomore Vivienne Haggard said.

Following a loss to Independence last week, Redhawks tennis improved their overall record to 3-2 with an 11-8 victory over the Emerson Mavericks on Tuesday.

“Our group continues to improve with every match that we play, not just from a skill standpoint but from a team spirit and mental toughness aspect as well,” assistant tennis coach Neil Grobler said. “The group really enjoys competing for one another, and it shows during these close matches. Emerson has a great program & this was a high-quality win for our varsity squad.”

The value of the win is twofold, however, as it also moves the team closer to post-season playoffs.

“All the matches are going to be pretty close because people want to make playoffs, but I think we’re well on our way,” junior Hailey Zhang said.
