Cross country is back to run their second 5k of the year. “I’m excited for the athletes to run their 2nd 5K of the season against some of the best in the state of Texas,” coach Khera Vay said.

Coming off a week break, the cross country team is set to compete in the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival on Saturday at 6:00 a.m.

“I’m excited for the athletes to run their 2nd 5K of the season against some of the best in the state of Texas,” coach Khera Vay said. “This will be a good competition for both the boys and girls on the most difficult course we will see before Round Rock.”

Junior Sofia Golladay has high expectations for her second 5K of the year.

“I definitely want to PR and run sub 19 this meet,” Golladay said.

With the District 10-5A meet creeping up on Oct. 12, the team has been putting in extra work.

“We added some hill work and increased the paces on our short and long repeats as well as our speed work,” Vay said. “We are officially less than a month away from the District, and I know the quality of work and quantity of miles is going to pay off.”
