Course selection for the 2024-25 school year will get started soon, and to help students and parents find the right classes, Frisco ISD is hosting an Advanced Academic Night on Thursday.
The webinar is open to students in grades 8 through 11 and their parents to learn more about the district’s advanced academic opportunities including advanced classes, AP classes, International Baccalaureate, Dual Credit, and Career and Technical Education classes at the CTE center.
“I’ve taken AP classes for all four years of high school and I think it’s really good,” senior Arnav Sareen said. “They help prepare me for college and give college credit, and the benefits are more than just right now, they also go into the future.”
With dozens of options, the webinar will help students and parents filter through all the information available and hopefully clear up any questions.
“I take both dual credit English, and AP Government, Statistics and Environmental Science,” senior Hannah Lee. “Dual Credit is great for college credit, but it also gives schedule flexibility like getting to take it zero hour which is an option I really like.”
With many advanced academic classes offering GPA boosts, the various options are fairly popular in Frisco ISD.
“GPA can be super important for different colleges and knowing what different classes can do to help or hurt your GPA is something helpful for students,” Sareen said.
Thursday’s event is from 6:00 -7:30 p.m., and to register, go to FriscoISD.org.
