Wrestling competes in the Santa Slam with duals on Friday, and tournament on Saturday. “It’s a really good tournament and a great arena, set up really well,” head coach Justin Koons said.

With winter celebrations fast approaching, holiday spirit is taking over everything, from clothing to decor.

And sporting events are no exception. Redhawks wrestling heads to Coppell Friday and Saturday to participate in the Santa Slam, with duals on Friday followed by a tournament on Saturday.

“It’s a really good tournament and a great arena, set up really well,” head coach Justin Koons said. “We love going there. We’ll be able to wrestle a couple duals on Friday and do some competition. I look at tournaments as a little more practice so that’s just going to be us working against other opponents and hopefully we’ll do well.”

The Redhawks have faced some challenges this season, but junior Carlisia Collette is confident that they can apply the lessons they have learned at this meet.

“I believe our team can overcome challenges and learn to grow stronger,” Collette said.
