Redhawks wrestling had high hopes for improving their mixed record at Coppell’s Santa Slam over the weekend, but ultimately fell to both the Cowboys and Cowgirls, with scores of 69-9 and 52-15 respectively.
Although the Redhawks may not have gotten the results they were hoping for, sophomore Dani Banks attributes the things they were able to accomplish to the team’s ethics.
“One thing I can say [we] did well was being able to keep calm and composed and showing good sportsmanship,” Banks said.
The season is now well underway, but head coach Justin Koons is keenly interested in getting more people on the wrestling teams to fill all the weight classes.
“There are starting varsity spots available for anyone interested in wrestling, especially on the girls side where we have a strong chance to compete for a district title,” Koons said. “Recruitment is always open.”
