Senior theatre students who have been in the drama department for all four years of high school have the opportunity to direct their own show starting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Students pick any show that is 40 minutes long and follows the UIL One Act Play rules. They have complete control over the process with theatre director Stephanie Winters providing assistance.

“I like just talking to the director,” Winters said. “I come in technically and help them put things together, I don’t make big decisions and I like that part.”

There will be three shows Wednesday, Paris Freeman’s Baby with the Bathwater will be first, then a short show Sure Thing directed by Winters, and another senior show directed by Katherine Hogan called Blithe Spirit which is about wives that die and come back to life to haunt their husbands.

“I feel like it might be hard for the actors to do a comedy,” Freeman said. “But I like the whole style of it and in my show everything is out of proportion and everything is just wacky onstage.”
