For the second time this season, the Redhawks soccer teams took on the Mavericks on Tuesday. Both teams walked away with different results than the first time around, with the boys’ tieing and the girls winning.

Competing in their final pre-season games before district play Tuesday, the boys’ soccer team walked out of the Melissa tournament with a record of 1-2.

“It was decent,” head coach Evan Mcgee said. “We had a lot of good moments, a lot of learning moments. A lot of guys got some experience that they haven’t had. We learned which players can play in different roles, and we learned which formation we do best as a team.”

Junior Lucas Godoy agrees with his coach, pointing out the positives, but still wished they could have come out with a better result.

“The results didn’t go how we would’ve wanted, but there was definitely a lot of positives we can take from these games,” Godoy said. “Just have to keep these positives and our focus for the season starting.”
