Soccer took on Heritage on Friday, with both teams falling to the Coyotes for the second time this season. Although a loss on both ends, the teams found learning experiences and success in some areas.

Boys’ and girls’ soccer did not start the season how they were hoping, as both teams lost to Walnut Grove. The boys lost 4-1, while the girls lost 3-0 to the Wildcats.

“Obviously not thrilled, nobody likes losing 4-1, Walnut Grove is a really good team,” head boys soccer coach Evan McGee said. “We should have done better is the way I feel. So far what we’ve learned is the importance of structure and communication in the midst of the game. Everybody acting as a team on the same page.”

While the boys were not able to put up any points, the girls team found success in being able to score against the Wildcats.

“It was nice to be able to find the net against a really good team in our district,” junior Lily Gibbons said. “But, a loss is still a loss. We just need to look to improve.”
