Redhawks Wrestling is facing off against teams from around Frisco, Celina, and The Colony in the District 8 Championship Wednesday and Thursday.
“I think the boys as we are can’t really compete for a district title this year because of numbers and how talented the other teams are, but hopefully we can all make it to regionals,” head coach Justin Koons said. “My concentration is just getting the wins we need out of our guys and getting them out. We’ll score points and we’ll be in the middle, but we’re not going to compete for a district title. Girls, on the other hand, if we can fill our lineup with the ones we have and stay focused, we have a chance to finish top three in districts. My goal is to get every single girl into regionals.”
Heading into her first district tournament, freshman Angel Machiri is looking forward to seeing how the Redhawks compare to the rest of the teams.
“I’m excited to go and see how we stand up against the rest of our district and how we’ll place,” Machiri said.
