Like many people, I usually watch the Super Bowl solely for the halftime show. When I don’t care about either of the teams, the performance is the only thing I get excited for. This year, the halftime show was headlined by Usher, and he did not disappoint.
After Rihanna’s mediocre performance last year, I was hoping that Usher would have something more entertaining. I like Rihanna more than the average person, but it was a little boring when she didn’t bring out any guests. After the 2022 halftime show, I’ve grown accustomed to the main performer bringing along special guests.
Usher brought out all his friends. He was joined by Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Lil John, and several others.
After Usher opens with a few of his own songs, Alicia Keys appears sitting at a piano. She sings her song If I Ain’t Got You, then My Boo with Usher, one of my all time favorites. Keys might have missed the first couple of notes, but in the moment, I didn’t notice.
Usher then goes on to sing all his biggest hits. The choreography and production throughout the performance was amazing. There was a matching band, a lot of dancers, several outfit changes, and other exciting elements. At one point Usher came out on roller skates. He’s 45 years old but you would know by the way he moves.
Besides occasionally being out of tune and a few technical issues, the performance was excellent.
