Searching for their second straight win, the softball team faces off against the Braswell High School Bengals Tuesday at 4:40 p.m.
“We’re very motivated to win, we played [Braswell] during fall ball season, and I’m excited to see how they play without a run cap in the innings,” assistant coach Tiffany Thayer said.
Since the Redhawks’ last time playing the Bengals, things have changed for both teams.
”I think we’ll have multiple strengths for this game,” Thayer said. “We struggled hitting against the pitcher they threw at fall ball, but she’s no longer playing with them, and our pitcher was hurt at the time so being able to have her back will definitely benefit us.”
Having past experience with the Bengals gives the team an advantage and an opportunity to outplay them according to Thayer.
”During the fall ball game, they only put up their best five hitters so knowing they’ll have to put up their weaker hitters gives us some confidence,” she said.
The team strives to play well offensively, hoping to lead to another win this season.
“If we keep up our good offense and clean defense, I think we can definitely win,” sophomore Addison Hanson said. “I think our bats will be really good this game, and we’ll be able to score a lot of runs early on in the game.”
