It’s a rematch Friday night, as the Redhawks take on McKinney North High School at the Curtis Culwell Center at 7:30 in the Regional II Semifinal.
“There’s always little things that you need to do to prepare for specific opponents,” head coach Ross Reedy said. “But ultimately, when you’re playing in the playoffs, being a good version of yourself and playing loose and being confident. That’s what ultimately it comes down to kind of late in the year and in the playoffs.”
Last year, the two teams met up in the Reginal Final with the Redhawks winning 57-47.
“We have a great familiarity with them, [and] they’re very close by,” Reedy said. “We have kids that have played with them and know them very well and are friends with them, [so] there’s quite a bit of intimacy in the relationship. We played them in 2021 in the first round, and we played them in 2022 in the third round, we played in 2023 In the fifth round, and now we’re playing them in the fourth round.”
If the Redhawks are to succeed Friday, the team then heads directly into the next round Saturday to compete against the winners of the Princeton vs. W.T. White game for the Regional Final.
“Playing back to back games is going to be tough,” sophomore Lilian Johnson said. “It’ll be important that after tonight’s game, we get a good night’s rest, eat well, and recover our bodies.”
