After their tournament before spring break got called off due to inclement conditions, Redhawks tennis heads to Wakeland Friday, with the weather still posing a problem.
“The varsity team is excited to get back on the court and compete again,” assistant coach Neil Grobler said. “The weather this spring seems to be one of our toughest opponents, so we are just hoping for some playable conditions on Friday. This tournament will be one of our toughest of the season and a great opportunity for our program to play against some tough competition.”
For sophomore Avani Chinwan, increasing the level of competition also ratchets up the mental challenges of tennis.
“The mental aspect is always super difficult, but learning how to cope with that and finding ways to get over it helps with tournaments like these where you’re playing more advanced competition,” Chinwan said.
