Redhawks softball, searching to recover from a rough start to round two of District 10-5A play, travels to Heritage High School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
“We had a big character talk after our last game and addressed a lot of internal issues, and I am ready to see how the girls respond in their gameplay,” head coach Baylea Higgs said.
The team’s biggest weakness is their mentality, according to Higgs, who is searching for a positive result to the issue.
“I hope just to see some leadership and then self accountability, just within their own selves, without coaches having to intervene,” she said. “I hope that they get on board with what we’re saying by responding mentally, physically, emotionally, and being more positive.”
Higgs also wants the character talk to pay off and give the team a good feeling about the rest of round two.
“We have the capability to beat any team in our district if we play to our full potential, and it starts with a mental game for us,” Higgs said. “If we go out and win these next six games, we could shake the district up, so there’s still hope. We definitely still have a chance, we just need the girls to step it up and fight bad mentality.”
