Baccalaureate bring seniors together
May 20, 2016
Senior baccalaureate is Sunday at LifePoint Church in Plano from 3-5 p.m. to bring together and honor graduating seniors in a religious setting with an emphasis on the Christian faith.
“It is a faith based ceremony to honor the seniors and praise God for His hand in their lives,” baccalaureate committee member Amy Bates said. “It brings all the seniors and their families together one last time before graduation.”
All seniors of all faiths are invited to attend as the ceremony is sponsored by a non-denominational group of parents and will serve as a pre-graduation event for seniors. In addition to several speakers, there will be a Rose Ceremony in which seniors are honored with roses.
“The Rose Ceremony of the Baccalaureate symbolizes that while in high school the class of 2016 was one unit,” Bates said. “Now after graduation, each student goes alone on their journey.”
