Wingspan: When and why did you start playing tennis?
Haggard: “I started playing tennis when I was a little kid (like 5 years old) as a way of spending time with my family. Although, I didn’t start practicing consistently until about 8th grade.”
Wingspan: What do you enjoy about playing tennis?
Haggard: “I like that tennis is very fast paced and can be an activity that you can do with your friends.”
Wingspan: What has been a hard challenge for you while playing tennis?
Haggard: “Maintaining mental fortitude in the moment. Battling the heat on the court. Keeping a clear and focused head space.”
Wingspan: How have you overcome said challenges?
Haggard: “By taking appropriate measures for handling heat like drinking electrolytes. Having mental resets during breaks.”
Wingspan: Where do you hope to see yourself in the future for tennis?
Haggard: “I hope to continue playing varsity tennis for Liberty. Further along, I hope to potentially play tennis in college though it’s not a priority.”
Wingspan: Who or what has been your biggest inspiration?
Haggard: “My biggest inspiration for playing tennis has been my older siblings.”
Wingspan: What motivates you to play your best?
Haggard: “Achieving progress in my game probably motivates me the most to play my best and get better.”
