Since the beginning of the year, the library has been open to all students finishing group projects, meeting with friends, playing games, and exploring different books across a variety of genres.
However, by the end of the day on Tuesday, all library books will need to be returned to the library where they’ll be kept safe until the start of the next school year.
Of the 7,894 books checked out in the 2023-24 school year, 249 are still checked out.
“If you don’t turn it in by the [Wednesday], it’s not the end of the world. You can always swing by and return it at any point before school ends,” campus librarian Chelsea Hamilton said. “But if you don’t turn it back in, I have to hunt you down, and if you’ve lost it, then you have to pay for it.”
The deadline has been no problem for students such as sophomore Sydney Kiely, giving herself two days to finish and return the latest book she checked out.
“[Nothing really changes with the deadline because] I can read books fast,” Kiely said. “The library is very nice because I get to read books without having to pay for them, so I check out a lot of books.”
