With the start of the 2024-25 school year has come a new look in the hallways. Taking a quick stroll from the rotunda to the academic hall, one will notice new posters, a mural, and signs – all adorned with new school mottos.
Principal Stacey Whaling came up with the idea for these additions, and wishes for them to serve as a symbol of encouragement everyday.
“We felt like students needed to see the message that everybody matters, because sometimes people don’t always feel like that,” Whaling said. “So, we were able to get Waterway Graphics to make [some] amazing murals – which I helped design, which was really nice – and yeah, get them put up. And obviously, we’re all about getting students ready for the future [by] using transfer skills to make sure that learning is relevant, so ‘your future starts here’ and ‘your future starts now’ is also around the campus.”
Filling what may have been empty space in years past, senior Alanna Chang welcomes the change.
“I think [the decorations] spice up the school,” Chang said. “Since I’m a senior, I’ve been here for a really long time, and there’s not really been any decorations. But I really do think that this makes the school like, I wanna say more alive. And especially for freshmen, they’re probably gonna be more excited for school.”
Of the several new hallway decorations, one stands out to junior Amanda Oh.
“I really like [the mural with the wings],” Oh said. “I think it takes a lot of effort and a lot of talent to draw those wings, as well as it’s just a cool visual to see passing down the hallway and, like I mentioned, to see them on Instagram and have that school pride.”

Very nice job on the layout of your school newspaper. We are working for starting one at the school in which I teach. Do you offer a printed version as well?
