At the risk of over quoting Tom Petty, if Redhawk volleyball’s 3-0 defeat by the Hockaday School Killer Daisies Aug. 20 left them briefly free fallin’, then their 6-2 record at Northwest ISD’s Volleyball Classic Thursday through Saturday was them sending a message: they’re learning to fly again and won’t back down.
“It was a very successful weekend for us,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “We played so well together and grew as a team, show[ing] that we are really strong defensively and will fight to win tight games. We are already hitting some goals we had and it’s only the third week of {the] season. The future is bright for this group.”
Senior Brooklynn Brown is already starting to see some of that improvement as an individual.
“I’ve definitely improved at putting up a big block and shot selection that allows us to get around [opponents’] defense[s] and find places to score,” Brown said.
