Students got a chance to meet their teachers on the first day of school, but for parents and guardians, Monday at 6:00 p.m. is that opportunity at Meet The Teacher Night where teachers provide information about the class they teach.
“This is my first year teaching English, so I have a whole new set of students,” English teacher Aaron Watts said. “Last year I taught outdoor ed, which was more of a PE related class, [and] I didn’t really have a lot of parents stop by, so I’m interested in seeing how many people stop by today because English 3 is more of a core subject class.”
BC Calculus and Precalc teacher Hsi Hou Fernandez plans to give various details that will be helpful to parents.
“Sometimes I’ll put up like a QR code or I’ll have a little hand out that says ‘these are my tutoring hours, and then [of course there’ll be information] on how to get in contact with me,” Fernandez said.
Although designed mostly for parents and guardians, sophomore Karthika Menon hopes to learn more about her teachers through the event.
“My parents and I are interested in knowing more about the teachers and the curriculum,” Menon said. “I hope to get more information about how my classes run as well as how the teacher teaches, since it’s still the first nine weeks [and everything’s] a little bit new.”
