Starting Friday, students on campus have the chance to enjoy a five-day weekend, an increase of two days from the previous school year.
“I love the 5 day weekend!” junior Anagha Konoru said. “It’s my junior year and I’m crazy stressed so I need this mini break to relax because my workload is insane.”
Having the day after Halloween off has its benefits, according to junior Nicole Dsilva.
“I’m excited for the weekend because it’s a break from school and it’s also going to be right after Halloween,” Dsilva said. “So that means I can stay up late and I won’t have to worry about being late to class. For the weekend, I’ll probably catch up on some studying because I’m planning on taking the December SAT. I’ll also hopefully be going to A&M for a college visit.”
A breath of fresh air for many students amidst busy schedules, this weekend is an opportunity for students to catch up on work.
“I’m going to Austin to look at a college and then I’ll do homework for the rest of the weekend,” junior Sydney Kiely said. “[Specifically] studying for the AcDec competition.”
However, the five day weekend can also allow students to catch up on hobbies in order to unwind before school begins again.
“[My weekend will involve] lots of crochet, I’m hoping to make some more mini projects or start a new project,” Konoru said. “I’m also hoping to play video games a little, since I haven’t touched my switch since summer, and also read a little.”
