The Redhawks boys’ basketball team (4-2) will be busy over Thanksgiving break, first hosting the Panther Creek Panthers (4-3) Friday at 7:30 p.m before participating in the Lone Star Shootout Monday and Tuesday. During that tournament, the Redhawks will face the Celina Bobcats (6-2), Keller Central Chargers (0-5), Oklahoma City Storm (0-2), and Denton Broncos (5-4).
Assistant coach Robert Wilson says this tournament is different from the others the team will play during their season.
“Tournaments during the break are always fun,” Wilson said. “It feels more like a college or high level atmosphere where it’s just about basketball all day. No class, no other responsibilities. We wake up, we get to the gym, and we get to work. It’s also a great bonding time for the players. We’re with each other for hours and it’s fun to joke around and learn more about each other outside of basketball.”
With no classes or academics to worry about, sophomore Ian Williams is looking forward to all the games.
“I’m really excited about the games over the break,” Williams said. “We get to play against a variety of teams and really just test our skills to see how we compare to them.”
