With just two games left before the start of District 11-5A play, the boys’ basketball team (11-5) is hoping to get more preparation under their belts with a home game Tuesday against Wakeland (9-5). Players and coaches alike are confident that the Redhawks have what it takes to claw a win away from the Wolverines.
“It’s really the best game to get us ready for next Tuesday,” assistant coach Robert Wilson said. “Wakeland has some really good shooters and a strong defense, things we’re expecting out of Centennial [the Redhawks’ first opponent in district play], so it’s our best chance to start getting in the mindset for districts.”
Junior Brandon Stephens also sees the game as an opportunity for improvement.
“I think we can do a better job on defense, especially down the stretch of the game,” Stephens said. “ We tend to start out pretty well, but as our games go on, I think we can do a better job of focusing and staying disciplined.”
