Red Rhythm drill team is having its first Junior Dance Clinic on Jan. 6. The Junior Dance Clinic is an opportunity for middle schoolers to join the drill team and get a sense of what it’s like to be a part of Red Rhythm.
“The purpose of the Red Rhythm junior clinic is to give participants interested in trying out for the Red Rhythm dance team in the future, a behind-the-scenes chance to see how performing feels and works,” sophomore Kaya Katti said. “It also gives participants a short insight into what the tryouts would be like. Giving them views on the prep before the performance as well as learning the dance and practicing through the week to get better for the big day.”
Through the junior dance clinic, students bond through their passion for dance and gear up for red rhythm dance auditions.
“The LHS Dance Junior Clinic benefits all students who love to dance,” Red Rhythm dance director Nicole Nothe said. “This is a great opportunity to challenge growth in students who love to dance or are interested in auditioning for the Red Rhythm Dance Team.”
The dancers learn various dance styles to enhance their skills.
“At the clinic, they usually learn either jazz or hip-hop, depending on what the directors and dance officers choose,” sophomore Eringo Daniels said.
For Katti, the clinic is a chance to meet new people and learn about the drill team for those interested in joining.
“I honestly think that this is super beneficial for future members,” Katti said. “Since I myself participated last year as a freshman and it gave me a chance to see what it feels like to be a part of the team, the behind-the-scenes of getting ready and prepping for the performance as well as just connecting with the people who you will be the most with throughout your years in drill team.”
