Although winter break begins on Monday, the wrestling team is in the middle of a busy stretch with the girls’ team taking part in the Texas Women’s Classic Dec. 13-14 before returning to. compete Thursday in District Duals.
The girls’ wrestling team took part in one of their biggest tournaments of the season Friday and Saturday at Lewisville as part of the Texas Women’s Classic.
“Three got medals, two were first, another got second place,” girls’ head coach Viviana Espinoza said. “The JV side did really good, varsity did good as well.”
Competing in a big tournament could be good preparation for Thursday’s District Duals.
For senior Esther Essien, the Texas Women’s Classic went well.
“It was a really good tournament, I feel like I didn’t do as good as I wanted to,” Essien said. “I won 3 matches and I lost 2, but I kinda got in my head. We did pretty good.”
