Fresh off competing in the Texas Women’s Classic, the Redhawks girls’ wrestling team is expecting to face some tough competition at District Duals Thursday at Frisco High School.
“Frisco High is the team to beat, they’re probably gonna win the district duel tournament,” coach Justin Koons said. “They just have the numbers and they rank first in the state. We are probably a close second or third with Lebanon Trail, or Centennial.”
Although they have to face the top ranked team in the state, the Redhawks are staying confident in their ability to take Frisco High down.
“I think it’s gonna be really good, I think I’m gonna win all of my matches,” senior Esther Essien said. “I’ve gone against all the people i’m gonna go against and i’ve beat them every time. So I think I have a good chance. I think our girls have a good chance of placing, top 3 maybe.”
