Many things in our lives rely on batteries to power them, but before you throw out those old ones and replace them, you may want to bring them to campus this week.
Frisco ISD recycles household batteries through the city of Frisco throughout the school year, but starting Monday, there is a battery drive in the district.
The metals batteries are made out of, including lead, lithium, and cobalt can be recycled indefinitely, but other elements in batteries aren’t good for the environment according to science teacher Gerald Nichols.
“It is important for us to recycle batteries mainly because these materials are toxic and if we put them into our landfills, we are just asking for us to pollute the earth further,” Nichols said.
The battery drive runs through Friday and can be dropped off in three different locations on campus: the rotunda, the science workroom, and in classroom C120
