Making the short trip to Independence (4-8) Tuesday, the girls’ basketball team (11-1) secured a win of 43-21, increasing their win streak to six.
“What helped us win was executing our plays, being defensively sound, and finding where their players are on defense,” senior Anaiah Warrior said
On Friday, the team will play against Memorial (12-0), which will decide the District 11-5A championship.
“[What is going to be important for the Memorial game is] keeping my head of the game, focusing on not the negatives but the positives, and also pushing on ourselves for this second to last game,” senior Tina Webb said.
The team has been preparing by focusing on specific strategies for the upcoming match-up against Memorial.
“[We’ve been preparing with] a lot of practice on offensive and defensive strategies, and just letting us have a lot of options,” assistant coach Jayci Morton said.
