Mixed results on the pitch Tuesday when soccer took on Centennial with the girls’ losing 4-0 and the boys’ tying 1-1.
“I think we just need to work on communication and working together as a team,” senior Sydney Boroughs said.
Head girls’ coach Kyle Beggs believes the team’s age showed on the field.
“We played hard, we did some very good things,” Beggs said. “I think we started off on the front foot and looked really good, and then some stuff happened, and I feel like it kind of snowballs on us. That can happen especially whenever you have a younger group that’s out there and an experienced group.”
While the boy’s might have tied, they played spoiler to Centennial as they scratched out their undefeated record.
“It was fun playing against my friends,” senior Lucas Godoy said. “We got super competitive on the pitch and got a good goal and messed up their record.”
Head boy’s coach Evan McGee believes the tie, in reality, should have been a win.
“We played a decent composed game, and we conceded a goal on an unfortunate mistake that led to a penalty,” McGee said. “They were a good team, but just the way the game was going for us to drop points is really the concern. Wasn’t one of those games where you want to celebrate afterward, because it felt like we didn’t get what we should get.”
